The 9th
REDFIN Reunion was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the Radisson
Hotel Pittsburgh Green Tree from Thursday, September 28 to Sunday,
October 1st, 2006.
Thursday was
dedicated to checking in and later the Pizza Party. About 72 persons
attended the reunion including three of our WW II vets, Ted Breisch,
Everett Butler and Charles “Red” Schwertfeger.
Many took advantage
of the cool, dry, sunny weather to tour Pittsburgh. What a beautiful
city, Pittsburgh is. This is not the city to visit if you do not want
to buy Pittsburgh Stealers or Pirates sporting items.
The USS REQUIN
(SS/SSR-481) was visited and toured by many of us. The group that keeps
her in shape should be very proud of themselves. It was a pleasure to
make the tour.
The buffet meals on
Friday and Saturday were very good with plenty of food on hand.
As it was mentioned
last year, Ken Small announced to us that there would be no more
reunions unless someone would take over all the duties associated with
the future reunions. The original organizers found it necessary to
retire from the duties. We did have four volunteers to step forward.
They were; Steve Buski, Jack March, James Martin and Larry Rash.
The 2007
reunion will be held in Norfolk, Virginia at the Lake Wright once
again. It will be held from Thursday, October 11 to Sunday, October 14,
2007. |
